Around this same time, McOuat left the band and was replaced by new bassist Rick Joudrey. Over the next couple of years, Blue Peter ran into difficulties with record labels and management, which led to them briefly releasing material on their own label, including "Chinese Graffiti" in 1981. In 1980, Mike Bambrick replaced Tomlinson on drums, and in the same year, the band released their first full-length album, Radio Silence. The initial lineup was rounded out by bassist Geoff McOuat and drummer Ron Tomlinson this ensemble recorded Blue Peter's first EP, Test Patterns for Living, in 1979. Humphrey died on April 4, 2021, after a long illness.īlue Peter was founded by guitarist/songwriter Chris Wardman and lead singer Paul Humphrey in the late 1970s, as a high school band. The video for "Don't Walk Past", directed by Rob Quartly, was No. 85 on MuchMusic's top videos of the century list, and was played on MTV in the United States, in spite of the lack of American record distribution for the band. In their heyday, Blue Peter opened for major international acts such as the Police and Simple Minds. I do NOT recommend this product.Rock, new wave, synthpop, alternative rock, pop rockīlue Peter was a Canadian new wave synthpop band founded in 1978 in Markham, Ontario, by Chris Wardman and Paul Humphrey. Unfortunately, the designers missed their mark and the quality guys didn't test this one out. Maybe if they'd put some more money into the button and less into the cool lighting they'd have a product I could highly rate. I rarely write poor reviews, but this particular item doesn't do what it's supposed to do. I cannot recommend it in good conscience and regretfully implore you to move on to another mouse. It has one job, silent clicking, and has failed miserably at that singular purpose. One reviewer had mentioned the same problem. It doesn't do it every time I push the button, but it's been steadily getting worse. It's a nails-on-chalkboard squeak that occurs. Normal home use of the mouse and now it periodically squeaks! Not a clicking sound. The lights were pretty cool on it too.įast forward about 36 hours later. For the first day, amazing! Silent clicks to the point I didn't realize I was clicking on things - it could hardly be called "clicking" anyway since the mouse didn't click anymore. I bought this because I was tired of the noisy 'click-click' sound of normal mice. My iMac immediately recognized the mouse, and it was such an improvement in responsiveness over my previous mouse, which was dying and lagging.įor the inexpensive price, I worry it won't last long, but if it does, I'll consider it a very sweet deal! I'm not complaining about the lights (I knew it would have them), but something to consider if you have it in a bedroom. but I'll likely cover the lights with black electrical tape as a permanent solution. Since my iMac is in my bedroom, I just unplug the mouse at night. The blue and red lights are pretty :) but I don't care for them, since they stay illuminated when my computer is asleep. The mouse is a decent weight and is a comfortable size for my small-medium size (female) hand, but I think it would be comfortable for larger hands as well. However, if you are gaming and using your scroll wheel fast, then expect it to be louder than slow scrolling, but even then it isn't all that loud. The right and left buttons are not silent and neither is the scroll wheel, but for an average user, it would seem quiet enough. I've only had this mouse for a couple of days, but it is so much quieter than my previous mouse! The right and left buttons make only a faint click similar to that of pressing a letter on my keyboard, but much quieter than pressing my space bar.
